Build a release packet before you upload
Keep the unprocessed source, accepted master, lyrics, credits, artwork license, split information, identifiers and a short provenance note together. Record which tools generated or processed which elements and preserve any permission for references or performers.
Use accurate artist and contributor names. Do not identify an AI-generated voice as a real performer, conceal required AI involvement or claim authorship and rights beyond what your contracts and applicable law support.
Check the distributor on the day you submit
Policies are not interchangeable. Spotify directs artists to deliver through a distributor, while distributors set their own admission rules. For example, TuneCore currently publishes a specific framework for generative-AI content, and YouTube provides delivery metadata for AI use in music content.
Read the current rule for every destination, answer its questions accurately and keep a copy of what you submitted. A platform can change policy after a guide is published, so this page is a workflow—not approval or legal advice.

What audio file should I deliver?
Use the highest-quality native stereo master requested by your distributor. Spotify currently says it strongly prefers FLAC and also accepts compliant WAV; your distributor may specify its own delivery format.
Do I need to disclose AI use?
Follow the current distributor, platform and territory requirements. When a service asks for AI-generation information, answer accurately and preserve the submitted record.
